Description

Based on its iconographic features, this beautifully detailed wooden statue depicts **Juichimen Senju Kannon** (the Eleven-Faced, Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara), the Buddhist Bodhisattva of boundless compassion. The multiple heads symbolize the deity's ability to hear the cries of the suffering in all directions, while the numerous arms represent the power to reach out and save them.

The statue is intricately carved from wood, showing the deity seated in a meditative lotus position (kekka fuza) upon a detailed lotus pedestal (rengeza), with hands clasped in prayer (gassho) at the center. A simple, circular halo (kohai) frames the head. The figure is housed in a custom-made, vintage wooden display case with glass panels to protect it from dust.

Condition:
The statue is in vintage condition. While the overall carving remains beautiful, **please note:** close inspection reveals that the tips of some fingers/hands on the multiple side arms have broken off over time due to the delicate nature of the carving. There is also natural dust accumulation in the crevices. The wooden and glass display case shows signs of age, including surface scratches, scuffs on the wood, and slight looseness in the joints.

Please check the macro photos carefully for details on the condition.
