This is a vintage Japanese jizaikagi (hearth pothook). It is a traditional utilitarian item originally used to suspend iron kettles or pots over an irori (sunken hearth), crafted from wood and bamboo.

The main shaft is made of a rare, naturally deformed bamboo with a distinctive heart-shaped cross-section. It appears as two joined trunks from the front but a single trunk from the back. The surface features a deep reddish-brown and black tone characteristic of "susudake" (smoked bamboo), naturally dyed by hearth smoke. The lower section includes an integrated wooden hook mechanism.

The jizaikagi is in vintage condition, showing signs of aging and historical use. There are surface scratches, scuffs, natural wear to the wood and bamboo, minor natural cracks, and some small chips on the wooden edges.

This type of bamboo is generally known as "Renrichiku" (intertwined bamboo) or "Sokan" (twin trunks). It is the result of a natural mutation and is extremely rare.
