This is a vintage Japanese vertical sword stand (katana-kake), primarily crafted from wood and finished with traditional black lacquer.

The stand features a gently curved vertical pillar and a distinct heart-shaped (inome) base. The base is decorated with a classical landscape motif, depicting mountains and pine trees, rendered using the gold makie (sprinkled metal powder) technique. The top section has a resting notch designed to hold a single sword vertically.
