■ Description Item Details This is a powerful and sculptural Japanese Bizen-yaki (Bizen Ware) flower vase, created by the renowned potter Matsui Tomoyuki (松井與之), an Okayama Prefectural Important Intangible Cultural Property holder.

  • Artist: Matsui Tomoyuki (1931- ).

    • He studied under the master Morino Kako and is known for combining traditional Bizen clay with modern, artistic forms.

    • The vase is signed with his incised signature "Yo" (與/与) on the bottom.

  • Design: The vase features a bold, avant-garde form resembling a seed pod or a budding flower, supported by three legs (Tripod). The mouth has a distinctive slit design, giving it a modern sculptural aesthetic.

  • Firing (Yohen): The surface displays the rich, unglazed "Yakishime" texture characteristic of Bizen ware, with a beautiful gradient from deep reddish-brown to dark metallic bronze (oxidized and reduced firing effects).

  • Usage: Its heavy, stable form and artistic silhouette make it perfect for high-end Ikebana arrangements or as a standalone museum-quality display piece.
