Contemporary Japanese Pottery Rectangular Plate Atsushi Ogata Hakeme Kohiki
Description
This is a contemporary Japanese pottery rectangular plate created by the ceramic artist Atsushi Ogata. Ogata is known for his work utilizing traditional techniques such as Hakeme (brush slip) and Kohiki (powdered slip) applied over locally sourced clay.
The plate features a shallow rectangular form with slightly raised, angled rims. The surface exhibits a light, earthy glaze with a very prominent, fine crackle pattern (kannyu) covering the entire piece. Beneath the glaze, subtle variations in color—including hints of pink, light green, and beige—are visible, punctuated by natural dark iron spots (koge) from the firing process. The edges of the plate show an unglazed, rustic texture. Please note that the display stand shown in the photos is not included.
