Description
Japanese Cast Bronze Flower Vase Yasumi Nakajima Suehiro Tsurukubi Ikebana
This is a Japanese cast bronze flower vase (kabin) created by the metalwork artist Yasumi Nakajima. It features a slender crane-neck profile (tsurukubi) that widens smoothly into a conical, broad base known as a "suehiro" shape.
The vase is crafted from cast copper alloy with a deep reddish-brown finish, presenting a subtle mottled surface texture inherent to the casting process. A stamped artist signature mark is located on the flat underside of the base, and it is accompanied by its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako).

Height: 21.5 cm / 8.46 in
Width: 9.8 cm / 3.86 in

The vase shows signs of aging, including light surface scratches, scuffs, and minor spotty discoloration. The bronze surface has a rough, uneven texture (rough skin) characteristic of vintage cast metalware resulting from natural oxidation and the initial sand-casting mold process over time. The wooden storage box shows wear, staining, and dust from storage.
