Description
This is a set of four Japanese Negoro lacquerware bowls, signed on the base, dating from the Momoyama to early Edo period. The vivid vermilion lacquer has naturally worn over time, revealing the underlying black layers, which conveys the distinctive beauty and history of Negoro ware. In addition, some bowls show fine, thin mesh-like wrinkles on the surface, a characteristic often found in older pieces from this era.
