Japanese Antique Wood Carved Fudo Myoo Statue Acala Buddhist Folk Art 18cm

This is a profound Japanese antique wooden statue of Fudo Myoo (Acala), a powerful protector deity in Japanese Buddhism. This piece is a "Minshubutsu" (People's Buddha), a category of folk religious art carved by laypeople or local craftsmen rather than professional temple sculptors.

The statue is characterized by its distinctive flat carving style, which gives it a powerful, primitive, and sincere aesthetic often associated with "Wabi-sabi." Fudo Myoo is depicted standing before a halo of Karura flames, originally meant to be holding a sword to cut through ignorance. The raw chisel marks and the natural grain of the wood add a deep sense of history and spiritual gravity to this piece.

Height: 18.0 cm / 7.1 in
Width: 14.0 cm / 5.5 in

The wooden surface has a naturally weathered patina with visible drying marks and minor chips consistent with its antique nature.
