Discover the spiritual presence of Edo-period Japan with this antique bronze Shinto shrine bell, known as a “suzu.” These bells were traditionally used in shrines and temples to summon the gods or purify sacred spaces with their resonant tones.
Crafted from solid bronze, this spherical bell features a weathered surface with a deep green patina, a result of long-term exposure and age. A purple and white braided cord remains attached, reflecting its ceremonial use in Shinto rituals. The bell has a beautifully aged character, with a split along the seam and some dents and surface marks that enhance its rustic charm.
