This is an antique Japanese small wooden chest of drawers (ko-dansu), dating back to the Taisho or early Showa period. It was traditionally used as a utilitarian storage piece in merchant households or for keeping ledgers.
The chest features a compact design with multiple drawers. It is crafted from solid natural wood, showcasing a distinct "tamamoku" (burl wood grain) pattern on its exterior. The second drawer from the top was designed to function as an inkstone box (suzuri-bako). The drawers are fitted with metal pulls and ring handles.

The chest is in antique condition, showing signs of aging and historical use.
