This is a Japanese woven bamboo flower basket (hanakago) traditionally designed for Ikebana or tea ceremony floral arrangements. It bears the signature of the maker, Chikusen, on the underside.
The tall, lightweight basket is crafted using an openwork diagonal weaving technique, featuring a flared upper rim that tapers toward a narrower base. The bamboo strips have a dark reddish-brown finish. It is equipped with an arched handle accented with decorative rattan knot tying, and the bottom is reinforced with intersecting bamboo slats where the red "Chikusen" signature is applied.
