Description This is a remarkable vintage Japanese iron temple gong (Dora), distinct from the more common bronze or brass varieties. Being made of iron, it produces a unique sound profile: a calm, grounded resonance with a subtle, rustic "buzz" (known as bibiri or sawari in Japanese aesthetics). This tonal quality creates a deeply meditative, wabi-sabi atmosphere that only aged iron can provide.

The accompanying wooden mallet is historically significant and suggests a specific provenance. The handle is hand-carved in the style of a Tokkosho (Vajra)—a Buddhist ritual tool used to drive away delusions. It bears the hand-carved inscription "Nanyo Kisshoten" (南陽 吉祥天).
