This is an exquisite Japanese sword rack (katanakake) made of wood, adorned with elegant raden (mother-of-pearl) inlay work. The scene features delicate plum blossoms and a bird, creating a poetic composition often associated with early spring and renewal in Japanese aesthetics. The stand is designed to hold up to five swords and reflects traditional craftsmanship and decorative artistry.

Condition Used – This item is over 50 years old. When acquired, it had significant dust and darkening, so it has been carefully cleaned to remove old surface grime. However, there are areas where the black lacquer has worn off. See the close-up: Image14. Signs of aging such as scratches, lacquer loss, and small chips are particularly noticeable on the lower corners and edges. The raden (mother-of-pearl) inlay is generally in good condition, though there are a few areas with minor loss. Overall, the piece retains its vibrant appearance. Please refer to the photos for the exact condition.
