This is an antique Japanese small wooden suzuribako (writing box) or ko-dansu (small chest of drawers), dating back to the Meiji period. It is a traditional utilitarian item crafted from natural wood and iron hardware.

The piece features a top-opening hinged lid that reveals a shallow storage compartment, along with three drawers on the front panel. One of the drawers is equipped with a decorative iron lock plate. The exterior is reinforced with iron corner fittings and hinges, and it includes a metal carrying handle on the top. The surface displays a prominent, textured natural wood grain.
